LTC Matthew Green is from Seminole, Florida, and was commissioned into the Army as an Aviation Officer in 2006 after graduating from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
After graduating from the AH-64D course, LTC Green started his Army career in Illesheim, Germany, as a platoon leader in 2-159th Attack/Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB). While assigned to this unit he enjoyed traveling with his family throughout Europe and experienced his first combat deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His second assignment took him to 1-101st ARB in Fort Campbell, KY, where he commanded A/1-101 in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He then attended Vanderbilt where he graduated with honors from the Master’s of Business Administration program. Following graduation, LTC Green attended the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth and subsequently returned to the aviation schoolhouse to serve as a Battalion Executive Officer, Brigade Operations Officer, and instructor pilot.
As an AH-64 Apache aviator, LTC Green served as a platoon leader, battalion logistics officer, company commander, future operations planner, battalion executive officer, and brigade operations officer in both combat and training environments. During his final aviation tour, he was afforded the opportunity to serve as an instructor pilot in the AH-64D/E training new attack pilots in all modes of aircraft employment.
In 2020, LTC Green made the decision to change career fields and start a career in the newly formed Army Enterprise Marketing and Behavioral Economics branch. During his time pursuing his MBA at Vanderbilt, he developed an interest in consumer behavior and development of human capital and felt this change in career was an opportunity to pursue a new area of interest while continuing to serve. Selected in the first cohort of officers, LTC Green spent his first assignment conducting market analysis/research for OEMA while teaching Principles of Economics and Behavioral Economics at USMA. Following that assignment, LTC Green headed to Fort Knox, KY, where he served US Army Cadet Command as the Chief of Marketing and Recruiting for three years.
LTC Green’s awards and decorations includes the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Senior Army Aviator Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
