Command Sgt. Maj. Michael J. Gimble is a native of Gaithersburg, Maryland and enlisted in the Army on Aug. 23, 2006, as an Infantryman.
He attended 11B One-Station Unit Training at Fort Benning. His post-training assignment was to 101st Airborne Division out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
His stateside assignments include Fort Campbell; Fort Bliss, Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Alexandria, Virginia; Waco, Texas; Harker Heights, Texas; and Richmond, Virginia. Gimble deployed to Iraq from 2007 to 2009 with C Company 1/502nd Infantry 101st Airborne Division, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Gimble served as a team leader and section sergeant while in the infantry, and as a station commander, first sergeant, and operations sergeant major as a recruiter.
Gimble's military education includes Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course Phase, Senior Leaders Course, Masters Leaders Course, and the Sergeants Major Academy. He has also completed the Army Recruiting Course, Station Commander Course, and the Company Commander and First Sergeants Course.
Gimble holds a Master of Arts (MA) from University Texas El Paso.
Gimble’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (fourth award) the Army Commendation medal (10th award) the Army Achievement award (fourth award), the Gold Recruiter Badge, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
