SMA recognizes top 13 station commanders

By USAREC Public Affairs

The sergeant major of the Army and the leaders of U.S. Army Recruiting Command recognized the top 13 station commanders during a virtual ceremony April 9.

These station commanders were selected from more than 1,400 recruiting stations across the command. The top two station commanders from each of the five non-prior service recruiting brigades and the Medical Recruiting Brigade as well as the top station commander from the Special Operations Recruiting Battalion were chosen based on performance during the second quarter of the fiscal year.

“You truly embody what it means when we say ‘winning matters,’ and we have to have our ‘people first,’” Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston told the station commanders during the live streaming event. “Without those Soldiers coming into our military, we wouldn’t have an Army, so I appreciate you.”

USAREC’s commanding general, Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, also provided words of thanks and encouragement to the station commanders at the opening of the ceremony.

“As station commanders, essentially as our platoon sergeants, you are instrumental in setting the conditions for USAREC to meet our Army’s expectations and requirements and ultimately win,” said Maj. Gen. Kevin Vereen, USAREC commanding general. “You have collectively impacted the lives of over 260 Future Soldiers, currently serving noncommissioned officers, and medical professionals.”
