The Army Warrior Fitness Team brought home one event win and four second-place finishes at the Heart of America team competition here Sept. 25-27.

With changes to the traditional CrossFit season in 2020 due to COVID-19, the competition was hyped to be one of the premier team competitions of the year, featuring 32 high-level teams from around the country. The Warrior Fitness Team was a dark horse team composed of Capt. Brian Harris, Capt. Ashley Shepherd, Capt. Rachel Schreiber, and Sgt. Jacob Pfaff.

The WFT athletes demonstrated the value their extra focus on team-based workouts throughout the lockdown. Fans quickly began supporting the team after hearing about their roles as Soldier-athletes and gave the team one of the largest ovations when they were brought on the floor for the final workout.

They proved to be consistent across all eight events, which gave them a 13-point lead going into the final day. After a third-place finish on the final workout, the team locked up the victory.
