U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Commander

Lt. Col. Casey Mills

Lt. Col. Casey Mills assumed command of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) on 15 July 2022.

Mills commissioned into the U.S. Army as an Aviation officer in 2002 and was assigned to Ft Rucker, AL where he trained to become a UH-60 Blackhawk pilot. Upon completion of flight training, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in Ft Campbell, KY as a UH-60 Blackhawk Platoon Leader and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mills later attended the Special Forces Qualification Course, earned the coveted Green Beret, and was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Okinawa, Japan. During his time in Special Forces, Mills conducted worldwide deployments throughout AFRICOM, CENTCOM, EUCOM, and INDO-PACOM areas of responsibilities as well as multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Mills most recently served as the USSOCOM Special Operations Liaison Officer (SOLO) to the United Kingdom. Mills holds a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business from Colorado State University and a master’s degree in international security studies from National Defense University.
