Medical Recruiting Brigade Commander

Col. Katrina E. Walters

Col. Katrina E. Walters is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and was initially commissioned in 1998. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in 2002 and was commissioned as a Captain in the Medical Corps. She holds a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College.

She completed residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii in Family Medicine in 2005, and a Fellowship in Obstetrics from Swedish Hospital, Seattle, Washington in 2010. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. 

Previous assignments include Command Surgeon, United States Army Recruiting Command; Deputy Commander for Clinical Services for Weed Army Community Hospital, Fort Irwin, California; Department Chair, Department of Family and Community Medicine for Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC), Fort Hood, Texas; Family Medicine Obstetrics Fellowship Program Director, CRDAMC, Fort Hood, Texas; Officer in Charge, Evans Family Medicine Clinic, Fort Carson, Colorado; Chief, Primary Care and Community Medicine, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Officer in Charge, Consolidated Aid Station Rustamiyah, while assigned to the 2nd Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08; Staff Family Physician, USA MEDDAC, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. 

Her military training and education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic and Advanced Course, Intermediate Level Education, Medical Management of Chemical and Biological Casualties Course, and the Combat Casualty Care Course. COL Walters’ awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal, Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

She is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit. She is married to John Walters of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania and together they have one daughter, Kaitlyn, age 12 years old.
