Baton Rouge Recruiting Battalion Command Sergeant Major

Jeremy C. Barbaresi

Command Sgt. Maj Jeremy C. Barbaresi is a native of Monroe, CT.  He is a graduate of Masuk High School class of 2001 and completed a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Post University in 2015.  He enlisted into the Army in October 2001, where he attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA. His initial military occupational training was as an Infantryman (11B) and later as a Cadre Recruiter (79R).    

His initial military assignment was to C Co 3/75th Ranger Regiment in Ft. Benning, GA.  During this assignment, he deployed to Afghanistan and twice to Iraq in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.  He served as a Rifleman, Grenadier, SAW gunner, and Fire Team Leader and participated in a combat parachute raid during the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003.  From 2005-08, he entered the recruiting command assigned to Baltimore Recruiting Bn. In 2011, he was assigned to the Richmond Recruiting Bn.  In 2014, he was assigned as the Doctrine Division NCOIC at HQ USAREC in Ft. Knox, KY.  In August 2016, he assumed responsibility as the 1st Sgt. of the Baybrook Recruiting Company, Houston Recruiting Bn. and the Phoenix West Recruiting Company, Phoenix Recruiting Bn. in 2018.  He served as the Operations Sgt. Maj. of Raleigh Recruiting Bn from July 2020 through December 2021.  He then assumed responsibility of the Baton Rouge Recruiting Bn on 4 February 2022. 

His education includes: Sergeants Major Academy, Class 70 on the Commandant’s List; Recruiting Company Commander and First Sergeant Course; Honor Graduate; Senior Leaders Course, Distinguished Honor Graduate and Distinguished Leadership Awardee; Advanced Leaders Course, Commandant’s List, Warrior Leaders Course Distinguished Leadership Awardee and Commandant’s List; Army’s Basic Recruiter Course; Station Commander Course; Army Ranger Course; Ranger Indoctrination Program; Airborne Course.

His awards and decorations include:  Meritorious Service Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device, Army Commendation Medal (7th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), Valorous Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award (2nd award), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Bronze Arrowhead Device, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Parachutist Badge with Bronze Service Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Ranger Tab, the Gold Recruiter Badge, the distinguished Gold Army Recruiter Ring, and the coveted Glen E. Morrell Ring and Medallion.

Barbaresi was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Audie Murphy Club in 2010.  He was selected as the USAREC Center Commander of the Year in 2012, and represented USAREC at the 2013 TRADOC Best Warrior competition.  He was also selected as the 1st Recruiting Brigade Station Commander of the Year in 2008, and the 1st Recruiting Brigade NCO of the Year runner-up in 2006.
